Ofsted 2022 - "This continues to be a good school. Children get a good deal here."
Welcome Message
Welcome to the Biggin C of E Primary School website. We are a small, friendly and inclusive village school where we aim to make learning rewarding and fun. We are dedicated to creating a nurturing and encouraging environment where all children feel safe to challenge themselves with their learning and can achieve their full potential. Core values such as being respectful, developing a kind and caring approach, and building resilience and courage are taught and lived, and are at the heart of everything we do.
We aim to encourage our children to develop their confidence, broaden their horizons and explore their future hopes and aspirations. Our school enjoys strong links with the local community, St Thomas’ Parish Church, surrounding small primary schools and the nearest high schools enabling the children to begin their roles as active citizens of the future.
Our experienced staff team work hard to create a wide and relevant curriculum to provide the children with a broad range of learning experiences. We focus strongly on core skills in English and Mathematics but ensure rich learning opportunities through Science, Knowledge and Understanding of the World, and the Arts support this. School has a well-established commitment towards Sport; providing outlets for our children to develop a love of being active through sporting events, professionally delivered coaching and a wide range of other activities. We are extremely lucky to work in such a beautiful part of the Peak District and also enjoy extensive school grounds, using the outdoors for learning as much as possible.
We welcome visits to our school and warmly invite you to make an appointment if you wish to find out more. Please contact Miss Nicholls or Mrs Miles on 01298 84279 or email headteacher@biggin.derbyshire.sch.uk.
We look forward to seeing you!
Kind regards
Teresa Nicholls
